zyBooks is a student-focused company and we do our best to keep prices as low as possible for students and to make the subscription process as easy as possible!
We expect that any student who is able to afford the zyBook in the first week does do so. That being said, we understand that in some cases, students on financial aid may not be able to afford the zyBook in the first week. As such, we are happy to offer temporary subscriptions to those students to help them pay while they wait for their financial aid checks to arrive.
Students on financial aid might check whether your bookstore sells zyBooks prepaid access keys, in which case you might use your school financial aid account to purchase a key from the bookstore (Info about prepaid access keys / Info for bookstore representatives). Note that most financial aid students pay directly at zybooks.com, which may have a lower price, enable future discounts, and save time too, and thus most schools using zyBooks do not set up such prepaid access keys.
How to request a temporary subscription.
Start by going to the subscribe page of the zyBook, then click "Have payment questions".
Clicking this button will pop up a modal that includes many common questions including how to obtain a deferral.
To request a deferral, you will need to expand the last question and fill out the provided form.
Some valid reasons for requesting a deferral include
- I am on financial aid, I am unable to afford the zyBook at this time and am waiting to receive my financial aid check
- I purchased an access key from my bookstore and the bookstore has not shared the access key with me yet.
Note that deferral requests are typically granted within 24 hours. Please make sure to provide a valid reason to ensure that our team will approve the request.
By the way, the first chapter is free, so you can immediately start reading and doing activities even before paying or requesting deferment. When in the chapter but unsubscribed, your activity will be recorded, but not visible to your instructor. After you subscribe, you will appear on that zyBook's roster, and activities you've already completed will become visible to your instructor. So you can get started learning right away.
