A zyBook provides standard text and figures, but also combines the power of interactive tools, responsive questions, and animations to provide students with a rich learning experience. Our products comply with WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 in many ways. We fully support customers without hearing, with limited hearing, without speech, with limited reach and strength, with no/limited vocal capability, and those prone to photosensitive seizure triggers. We partially support customers without vision; without perception of color; and with limited language, cognitive, and learning disabilities. Key product accessibility features include:
- Text, figures, and tables that conform to WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines
- Alternative text equivalents for images
- Animations that include captions for assistive technology users
- Buttons and text input fields that are appropriately labeled to identify their purpose
- ARIA landmark roles that are used for quick navigation between menus and main content
- Sections that can be quickly navigated by heading
- Math content that is rendered via MathJax, resulting in the generation of various math markup languages, including MathML.
To further assist students with disabilities, zyBooks also gives them access to an Accessibility Mode toggle, that when enabled, results in:
- Increased color contrast of elements that convey meaning
- Replacement of drag-and-drop activities with multiple choice questions
- Replacement of coding windows with plain text windows
