Instructor created zyLabs can be restricted such that students can only view the labs within a certain time window.
Note, you may wish to review our article on How to create a zyLab if you do not have any custom zyLabs yet.
To set the time window, enter the zyLab's edit experience by clicking "Edit lab" at the top of the zyLab. Note if you are creating a zyLab you will already be in the edit experience.
Scroll down to "Lab availability options" and select the checkbox "Use windows".
Note that you can set a time window for your entire class or for a particular class section or student. You can use the "Add a time window" option to include multiple windows. If you have one date set for the entire class, and additional dates set for individual students, the individual dates will be the dates that are respected for those specific students.
Select the start and end date/times for when the zyLabs should be available to students.
Here is what students will see
Before the time window
During the time window
After the time window
Students who are working on the zyLab near the end of the time window will receive a warning 30 minutes before the deadline, as well as 15 minutes before and one minute before.
During the last minute, a persistent timer will appear in the bottom corner to let the student know exactly how much time they have left.
You can also set duration limits to control how long students can work on the lab after they begin.
Note: zyLab availability windows will take priority over the duration limit. For example, say a lab has a window set to end at 1:00 pm and a duration of 60 minutes. If the student begins the lab at 12:30 pm, the lab will end at 1:00 per the window, regardless of the fact that they have 30 mins remaining for the duration.
