Creating a link in Sakai
Assignment links (can pass back grade data)
1. Navigate to the "Assignments" on the menu on the left-hand side. Then the "Add" tab at the top of the section.
2. Fill out all required fields.
3. For submission type, select "External Tool (LTI)" from the drop-down menu. Then click "Select External Tool (LTI)" and choose zyBooks.
4. Make sure to enable "Allow Resubmissions" and set the "Number of resubmissions allowed" to Unlimited.
5. For Grading, select "Send grades to the Gradebook" and "Create new Gradebook item" to ensure scores are sent to the grade book. Finally, post the assignment.
Note: You will need to click the following buttons in order to be redirected to your class book so you can configure the link.
After posting the assignment in Sakai, locate it in your list of assignments and click on the title to open it.
Then, scroll down until you see the "Go to External Tool" button.
6. Next, go to step 2, Configure the link to a zyBook assignment (from our main article, How to link a zyBook assignment/section/TOC to an LMS).
External tool links (cannot pass back grade data)
1. In the section where you wish to add the External link, click on "Add Content +".
2. On the modal that appears, click "Add External Tool".
3. Click on the "zyBooks" tool in the tool selector.
4. On the modal that appears, click "Save".
5. (Optional step)
Hover over the link you just created to see more options. You can click on the edit icon to make changes to the link display settings.
Here, you can update the link's name and set it to open in a new window.
6. Launch the link you just created.
